Module 5 Introduction

For this next module, we focus on the remaining two points from the Fashion Revolution Manifesto – #7 and #4 – and try to imagine a fashion industry that meets these expectations too.

In this module, we focus on an important antidote to fast fashion, acquiring clothes we love and making them last. We will look at how an alternative economic model that is based on this way of thinking – known as circular fashion – can encourage this (#7), and how the skills of artisan makers and crafty shoppers can make and maintain clothes that matter (#7)

This module has two parts which ask us to a) think carefully about circular fashion in principle and practice and ask what it could mean for garment workers employed in the fast fashion system it aims to replace and b) think critically about the traditions, skills and threats to the livelihoods of artisans making clothes that they love to last.
