Welcome to the Course

Fashion Revolution is a worldwide movement demanding the change of the fashion industry. We want a world where fashion doesn’t exploit people and doesn’t destroy the environment.

We are Fashion Revolution. We are designers, producers, makers, workers and consumers. We are academics, writers, business leaders, brands, retailers, trade unions and policymakers. We are the industry and the public. We are world citizens. We are a movement and a community. We are you.

We love fashion. But we don’t want our clothes to exploit people or destroy our planet. We demand radical, revolutionary change. Our 10 point Manifesto shows what the fashion industry could and should become.

This course introduces young people to the global  fashion industry, its impacts on different societies, human rights and the environment. It can inform and inspire them to take action that starts with the clothes that they wear. They can choose to study in English, Slovak or Czech.

Topics:

The statements we make with the clothes we wear

Human rights within fashion’s value chains

The environmental impacts of the fashion industry

Changing the world by mending our clothes one thread at the time

Change the world as the consumer and as the citizen

After this course you will be able to:

Think critically about the clothes you wear

Recognise the impacts the fashion industry has on people and the environment

Find and verify information to teach yourself more

Identify positive solutions which work for you

Who’s this course for?

This course has been designed for young people, but is suitable  for anyone with interest in fashion and its connection to society and environment. Its in-person content can be organised by young people aiming to educate themselves or their peers, and by educators, youth workers and others to enrich their curricula.

boohoo orchestrated a *boohoo only* panel at Source Fashion show in London to discuss "ethical clothing" and "industry collaboration", so we went down to call out the greenwashing and hypocrisy.
