Module 1 Introduction

To start this module, we would like you to read Manifesto points #10 and #8 and imagine a fashion industry that does both of these things.

In this module we will explore the ‘fashion statements’ that we make with the clothes we choose to wear. We will ask what our fashion choices celebrate (#10) and what we can find trustworthy information out about how, where, by whom and under what conditions our clothes are made (#8).  

This module has two parts which ask us to a) think carefully about the ways in which people deliberately (and accidentally) ‘wear their politics on their sleeve’ and  and b) how to find out more about the hidden politics in our clothing by doing some simple detective work.
